Bleaching
White tooth reflects on the healthy tooth. When healthy and shiny teeth give you a sense of self-confidence and satisfaction, you cannot stop laughing, but unfortunately, as the years go by, we laugh less and our teeth lose their brilliance.
Discoloration becomes a situation that we cannot escape in time. In fact, there are many reasons of the discoloration, but most of the bad habits in our lives lead the list.
Tooth enamel is a thing that gives to the tooth its whiteness and brightness. It can be quite powerful, but it is not indestructible. Over the years, it will become thinner and this translucency situation will cause the natural color in its dentine to become much more visible.
Bleaching
After this stage, over time, our teeth will gradually have shades of colors such as yellow and gray. In addition to coloration, since this tooth enamel has been constantly exposed to micro-cracks over the years, when we eat or drink something, the substances that are eaten and drunk will fill in these micro-cracks.
If we mainly consume dark and colored drinks such as coffee and tea, the tooth coloring will be much more intense and coloration will take place much faster. In addition to thickening of the entire tooth, if the particles penetrate between the tooth enamel and dentine; this time, the stains occur on the tooth.
Approximately 3-4 shades of whiteness can be added to the patient's teeth using laser bleaching!
Today's dentistry can increase tooth whiteness by using the bleaching techniques. Moreover, there are also bleaching kits that can be used at home, but for the most effective result, the application should be absolutely made by a dentist.
Commonly used techniques are as follows;
Tooth bleaching with laser
The process takes approximately 30-60 minutes, depending on the frequency of treatment. The dentist will remove the dental calculus and plaques before the treatment. Then, the laser will be applied on the teeth with the special gel product executed as a thin strip on the tooth. With this treatment, approximately 3-4 shades of whiteness can be achieved for the tooth color.
Scaling/Polishing
The Scaling-Polishing technique is also frequently used treatment technique that is not as effective as laser bleaching. Contrary to the popular belief, it is completely harmless to the tooth enamel.
Household bleaching kits
There are many types of home bleaching kits available on the market, but not all of them are equally effective and you may not get the result that you want. It is recommended that you absolutely consult your dentist before using such a product.
Whitening toothpastes
Although it is effective in keeping your teeth whiteness, if you do not change your bad habits, you will probably not get more whitening on your teeth than you have right now.
Finally, no matter which method of tooth bleaching you choose, you should always consult a dentist first. It is of great importance for this whitening process that the dentist cleans your dental stones and plaques. Moreover, we also mention that the above mentioned tooth bleaching methods may not give the same result for every patient. The shade differences may occur depending on the diagnosis and treatment status of the patients.
